Theme inspection campaign “Work at Height”
The Department of Labor Inspection of the Ministry of Labour, Welfare and Social Insurance, during the months of March, May, June, September and November of 2016, will conduct a campaign on the theme "Works at Height".
- This campaign was designed with that in mind, among others, the causes of occupational accidents that have occurred in recent years during the execution of work at height and the use of lifting equipment.
- The purpose of the campaign is to raise the awareness of all those involved in both the Public and Private Sectors in relation to the safe execution of work at height and the use of appropriate mechanical equipment and other means to reduce accidents, occupational diseases and dangerous incidents.
- The aim of the campaign is to check the compliance of employers and self-employed persons with the provisions of the Safety and Health at Work Legislation for the safe execution of work at height, with an emphasis on the control of mechanical lifting equipment and portable ladders.
- The campaign will be conducted on construction sites and other premises, which will be inspected for the purpose of informing the contractors, subcontractors and other employers and/or self-employed persons regarding the provisions of the legislation regarding the use of suitable equipment for lifting persons and their compliance control. They will be inspected, among others, buildings under construction / repair / renovation and corporate headquarters (employers or self-employed persons) that rent mechanical lifting equipment or carry out transport / moving or cleaning buildings or installing solar panels / solar systems / billboards. also, Municipal teams will be inspected / Communities that perform work at height using mechanical lifting equipment (B.C. pruning and decorations), as well as properties of any other employers or self-employed persons, who perform work at height using mechanical lifting equipment.

It is clarified that in addition to these points they will be checked, in parallel, and other provisions of occupational health and safety legislation.
